Nearly killed by tractor...in my living room!? Saved by LoveSac.

On Friday night, Annie Aziz was sitting in her recliner, in her living room in Bountiful, Utah.  An un-manned farm tractor came crashing through her home's front wall.  The runaway tractor pushed her LoveSac across the room and crashed into her recliner, smashing the chair to pieces.  It forced Annie through the interior wall of the home, all the way to the back wall where she remained pinned for as long as 5 minutes before they were able to get the tractor off of her. 

The wheels of the tractor were still spinning as it pinned her down.  She would have probably been killed except for the five feet of invincible Durafoam that separated woman from machine.  Annie is fine now.  We saw the story on the news so we sent her some flowers and a care package from LoveSac while she was in the hospital.  Dan and Jordan from the Salt Lake stores went to see her.  She has been released from the hospital now. 

Annie called me tonight and is glad just to be alive.  She is totally cool and has a great sense of humor about the whole thing, even though she is permanently traumatized, I imagine.  I am glad she's alive too.  I guess that could have gone either way as far as the Sac was concerned. The funny thing is, while her framed, wooden, upholstered chair folded like a house of cards, the Sac just needs a new Cover.  Maybe our 2 lifetime guarantee will hold up afterall.  Maybe she should have had Sactionals. 

So I was thinking of doing something nice for her, seeing as her entire living room was smashed, randomly, by a tractor.  WHAT DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD DO FOR ANNIE?

LoveSac. MORE than just a damn beanbag.

[Hold your breath.  No verdict, yet on the "Name the LoveSac dog contest," but the decision will come in mid-October.  Your entries are GREAT!!]

 I wanted to share this quick story about a strong family, where, apparently LoveSac has played a small role in making their lives more comfortable.  It seems that we get a letter every other week about some way that LoveSac has helped someone (usually kids) with a serious physical mallady: Muscular Distrophy, Autism, Pelvic Surgery in a Body Cast, etc, etc...  This was sent to me from Kevin, at Tyson's Corner LoveSac, D.C....

Hey everyone I just got off the phone with a mother who is very very strong. Her daughter is suffering from a disease called sandhoff. The children who have this disease only live to about 3 years old. Their muscles start to deter ate slowly and eventually become paralyzed. She told me that it is her goal to have every child who suffers from this disease to have a Lovesac. It changed her life in so many different ways, she has started a website about her her daughters sickness and is going to have a section dedicated to lovesac. She has already contacted NTSAD.com which is a nonprofit organization helping others with this illness. She contacted them telling her story about how much lovesac changed her and her daughters life and recommends that lovesac should be a medical necessity for this disease. I wanted to share this story with everyone because it really touched me and you never know when the littlest thing can change someone's life. The website she started is called helpteresa.com if you want to check it out and maybe leave her some comments or anything check it out. Be prepared in the future to get a lot more customers with this illness or any other type of illness because she is on a mission to make sure everyone knows how much lovesac helps with the ease of this disease.

Best Vacation Idea This Year...Staycation

                                                                                    My favorite Movie Lounger(s)

I guess I'm just out of it.  I thought the guy who called up LoveSac HQ customer service yesterday was so clever.  He was going on about his upcoming "Staycation," and then proceeded to order up a Sactionals Movie Lounger to make his life on staycation that much more comfortable.  It turns out, after I googled "Staycation," that he was likely not the originator of the word, or the notion of just taking your vacation money and spend it pimping out your pad and just hanging out at home for your time off.  But it was the first I had ever heard of it....Not a bad idea, if you ask me.  But then, I am biased. 

With gas prices now totally out of control (I mean nearly $5.00 per gallon!  That is what we used to give our buddies to chip in for gas--on a generous day!???) what better way to spend your money than on an oil-based product that will last you a lifetime!?   In all honesty, I think Mr. Staycation will get a lot more miles out of his Sactionals Movie-Lounger than he could ever hope to get from the same ammount of money spent on gas.  Sactionals are just not your average sectional sofa.

Of course, I guess one could argue that just because the petroleum based Durafoam in LoveSacs is guaranteed for life, this does not automatically guarantee one's getting any mileage on their Movie Lounger.  In fact, I'm not entirely sure that buying a Movie-Lounger even increases your chances of getting very far at all. What's that they say?  "It's not the size of a man's Movie Lounger, but how he uses it."  In my humble observation, despite popular belief, LoveSac furniture has a funny way decreasing action in general--slowing things down--taking away the lounger's will to even get up and cross the room to get a drink, let alone put any miles on it.  A hardcore Sac user will often forego food or water - not out of dedication - but in the name of lethargy.

But, maybe Mr. Staycation will learn plenty of advanced Sac skills in short order.  Maybe he'll see plenty of action on his staycation afterall.  Or maybe it will just be a quiet, inexpensive, relaxing, comfortable, durafoam-filled dream of a week away from work.  Either way, I can't say that sounds half bad.  And, in my humble opinion, is probably the best money you can spend on oil in 2008.

A LETTER FROM A CUSTOMER...

My 3 year old son, Porter, has autism. His therapist suggested we get him a love sac. The thought was he could jump into it and have the feeling of deep pressure and feel and be safe. Porter now jumps from high places into the love sac. His face lights up and his physical tantrums and aggravation are at ease. It helps to center his body so he can function at a better pace. Porter also likes to put his legs under the love sac for pressure. Another great therapy for him is to hit the love sac instead of hitting himself. The love sac has really helped in my son’s therapy. I am so impressed how he has taken to it.

I can't tell you how happy this makes me.  One funny thing about LoveSac is, that it really does make people's lives more comfortable.  That's our company's slogan, actually, "Making people's lives more comfortable."  It runs a lot deeper than just a cushy seat.  It is cool to see people like Porter truly live this sentiment.  Whether it's helping a 16 year old high-school kid feel that much cooler for having the "real deal," thereby getting him his first kiss, thereby increasing his self esteem...whether it is hiring somebody in the mall for their first job - giving someone a chance, or whether it is a child like Porter, who's life is actually made a little better by this silly invention we call LoveSac....I am just glad to be a part of it.  There are many reasons that LoveSac should have failed long ago, but somehow we have weathered every storm for 10 years now, and I believe we have not yet even really hit stride. 

But, in the mean-time, we do what we can to help when we can....which isn't a lot.  But, someday, I hope it will be.  I am SUPER glad to hear Porter is doing well, and I wish you only the best in your battle with autism, and getting comfortable or sitting comfortably.  Maybe the LoveSac is a sort of therapy tool....an instrument for the development of autistic children.  Or maybe it's just a bag of shredded Durafoam.  Either way, I'm glad it seems to help.  My first child, a baby girl, is due in one month from now, and I can only the imagine the stress and pressure of caring for a child - especially with a condition like autism.  LoveSac loves you.

We do have a cover but we got it 2 days after taking the pictures, and it was really difficult to retake the pics with Porter. If we get more pictures we will be sure to send them. Porter now sleeps on the love sac at night, and it has been the best he has ever slept!
