Children of the 90's unite! I'm sure that many of you, like me, had "friends" who rocked those genie-like Hammer Pants to dances in Jr. High School. In my case it was the Holmgren twins. Man, they could do the running-man like nobody's business...in MATCHING twin blue-with-sequen Hammer Pants no less. WHAT a memory. Well, I guess the next best thing to having Josh & Jeremy Holmgren to roll with is rollin' with the man, the myth, the legend himself, MC Hammer on the LoveSac Bus. We have heard from a number of you die-hard Sac fans just might not be getting enough love from the Sac from my blog alone, so we've added Charlie (our beloved keeper of the bus, AKA luckiest job in the world) to the ranks of LoveSac bloggers, and he'll be keepin' you updated from the road via the Bus Blog. He's lucky enough to be rollin' the open highways of the southern U.S. with the likes of upcoming pop-star and MAJOR HOTTIE Jesse James. Anyway, enough with current, relevant pop-stars...back to Hammer & Ice. So a few weeks ago, our man, the infamous Mr. Samuel Salisbury, a virtual legend in Salt Lake City, Utah, put together a concert for the history books. Sam brought in Vanilla Ice & MC Hammer for a very special one-night-only/ever sold out concert event. The LoveSac Bus was rollin' deep thru the weekend with the Hammer Dancers, Vanilla Ice, and the Hammer himself takin' their own pics and rockin' the Guitar Hero on the way to their various party spots. Hip Hop artist Jim Jones [current radio hit: Pop Champagne (Video)] rocks the Sac in his Manhattan Recording Studio. He picked them up on his own from our store at the Garden State Plaza. His buddy/producer Damon Dash (pictured below, hangin on the Sactionals, chatting with their recording lable rep), invited me up to their studio in Manhattan to check it out. It was a good time - the hip hop scene is always a hot (boxed) party. But you gotta love Jim's own touches, namely, the customized throw pillows shown here. What can I say - he's a rapper with good taste.
Jim Jones' pad is all Black Velvish with some red throw pillows on the Sacs. He's got about 6 Bases and 8 Sides, as well as U-tables, U-Drinks, a SquattoMan (functions as coffee table/remote control holder, above), a MovieSac, SuperSac, and a PillowSac closer to the entry, just outside the glass conderence room. (shown right). Despite his recent arrest for assault, I'd have to say Jim and his crew are all pretty cool. Gotta love the vibe. I've been big into hip hop since my college days and my obsession with huge auto sound systems. Let's just say that Jim Jones sounds good on the LoveSac Bus thru its 24 speakers.
Hopefully we'll run into Jim and crew out at Sundance Film Fest in Park City, Utah, this weekend. We'll be rollin' deep on the LoveSac Bus. Keep an eye out.
In the YouTube video below you will see Jim's glowing endorsement of me, Shawny D., as a future Rap Artist. I'm pretty sure he might see me as the next Jay Z or Ne-Yo, his next rap rival...hence his hesitancy to admit to my raw rap potential. Yeah? No? Okay, maybe not. But it was cool to hang with Jim's crew anyway.
I don't know about you, but my favorite way to spend New Years Eve is at work. My band, The MotherLove, rocked a private party in Park City last night. Ya gotta love the Park City crowd...the kind of people who, at 1am, when we are done, they drop the Benjamins to have us keep going, and going, and going. Good times.
I'm just glad my cute wife, Tiff, puts up with it. She has spent many a New Years Eve in the same room with me, but veritably alone. She's a good sport. Her friends Morgan and Danny crashed this black tie event with her--not their first MotherLovin' New Years Eve.
By the time these little vids were shot, I counted 50 people who coudn't stand anymore, at least 9 people fallen, brutally to the floor, and 16 champaigne glasses broken. Even thought we played some of our own tunes (stay tuned - maybe you can download one someday), nothing gets the crowd moving like our Cover Tunes....
