So we had been rockin' the limited edition cut-velvet damask / quilted grey velvet covers from 2010 for a while in our home in CT. We still love the look, but it just seemed like it was time for a change. I can't tell you how often I reflect on the fact that I have all kinds of experiences with Sactionals that make me love them so much more, and while I know that I am biased (perhaps more biased than anyone), I still wonder things like: "What do people do who don't have Sactionals?" Like, what do people do who just get sick of their giant sectional after a couple of years? Do they get it reupholstered? I don't think so.
What do people do who are having a Superbowl party and want to seat more people all of a sudden, or just change the way groups of people can sit in their home? Do they bring up furniture they have stored in the basement? Probably not often.
Anyway, I know I am biased, but I try hard to forget that I'm "Mr. Lovesac," and I try to just experience things as any other Sactionals owner would. In this case--we wanted a change--so we changed it.
Here is a step-by-step glimpse of a Saturday afternoon spent changing our Sactionals around a few weeks ago. It took 1 man and 2 kids a couple of hours to make the whole change. We changed the covers from Cut Velvet to Plaid Softweave and Cranberry Tweed. My kids, Lucky (4) and Duke (2) were "helping" me...but, as you can imagine, they were not much help. They do so love jumping on Base frames like trampolines though!
Today I am on QVC with Lovesac for my first time where I actually have TWO airings in one day. I have literally been sitting here in some lame plastic-leather chair outside of the QVC green room working on my laptop since my first airing at noon, today, having woken up at 5am just to drive 3 hours from Connecticut to Pennsylvania, with the highlight of my day being the award winning cheesesteak sandwich I ate at some non-descript PA diner at 1:30....all the time wondering why this entire lounge is not all Sactionals (instead of this lame furniture).
In fact, the green room is worse--that place sees a 24 hour endless stream of entreprenuers and paid spokespeople changing clothes, doing hair, blotting makeup, schmearing bagels, and schmearing the furniture awaiting their big moment of TV magic. (That furniture is, well, not washable, changeable Sactionals...let's just put it that way).
I'll be here until midnight, as my 2nd airing falls within the "Anything Goes" show with my favorite host (female) Shawn. That's right, Shawn & Shawn, slingin' Sacs on TV.
But I digress. The FIRST time I ever came to QVC, I was amped up and nervous, and genarally off my game when a dude wearing a headset claiming to be a producer here got all excited about telling me that he's been a Lovesac customer for a long time and that he was excited to see us finally on air here. Justin, it turns out, wasn't just your typical "dude, I have a Sac man" groupie, but a full-fledged Sactionals home. Justin called his wife at home, who emailed me proof, and later came in to say "hi" too, seeing as she, too, works backstage at QVC as well....a regular home shopping family.
Whenever I meet these forward-thinking people who are clearly living on the cutting edge of furniture with-it-ness, I love to press them for their own stories of how they use their Sactionals--because I always learn something new about my own product.
These two videos just say it like it is--totally unscripted.
I am sitting here, right now, on the Lanai (that would be the 2nd story veranda overlooking the pool/ocean in the distance for those as unsophisticated as myself) catching up on my blog as the crew sets up our brand spankin' new outdoor Sactionals in the corner for a shot involving 2 kids, a hose, and lots of water....its clear why we didn't stage this January shoot in the NYC area.
MAN, I've got the furniture, now I just need to figure out how to get me one of these here beach mansions to kick it in--because WORKING this close to the sound of a hot-tub trickling into the pool and waves crashing in the distance is just, somehow torturous.
Anyway, for those of you who've already arrived and have your own little slice of paradice--whether it be in the suburbs of central Jersey or plains of Texas, Lovesac has really stretched itself to deliver all of the washable, changeable, comfortable, durable, moveable, stackable, FedEx-able, extremely modular benefits of the Sactionals to your outdoor seating area. Seriously--this is a game changer.
The product will not be available to you until March 19th, but get your orders in now because we've produced a limited quantity and they are going to go fast.
THEY ARE SO AWESOME (in my humble opinion)...and even though I'm biased (as it is my team that invented them), I am a Lovesac customer myself and I can't wait to deck out my own deck with them (sadly, minus the hot tub, pool, beach, waves, lanai, and 12 month endless summer).
Keep your eye on Lovesac.com and start planning your space. (BTW: These images were just taken with my point-and-shoot, so they don't do them justice--just for a sneak peak)
BTW: Did I mention that the wicker/steel frames weigh less than half of indoor Sactionals--still guraranteed for life and come with 2, yes TWO sets (light linen & brown thatch) of water-resistant weatherproof covers included in the box, ready to rock.
Well, we only first invented the product SIX years ago...but it has literally taken us this long to film a video that does it justice. In case you (or someone you know) don't know exactly what Sactionals by LoveSac can do, well, just watch this very short video.
We actually have another killer video with just a bit more detailed information coming out next week. But in the mean time, PLEASE FORWARD THIS VIDEO TO ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO OWNS A SOFA. They should know about this.
Thank you!!!! And please just help us spread the word! Furniture will never be the same.
Just a quick shout out to some of our Sactionals die-hards our there. These are people who, one way or another, were taking their furniture home today. There are thousands more out there like them, but I only get the pleasure of photographic evidence from a precious few.
First up we have someone in the D.C. area who loves the environment, almost as much as they (apparently) love their new Sactionals: A Sactionals Movie Lounger, SuperSac, Squattoman, and matching covers all stacked into a Prius. If my eyes don't deceive me, it seems that our scrappy LoveSac crew figured out how to use an extra Sport Utility Cover as a cargo-net of sorts, keeping it all in...better hope the brakes work on this one.
Next we have what seems to be two living-rooms worth of furniture stacked in this Honda Ridgeline. Not much suspension left there.
Finally, I'm not sure how these Vegas Sac'rs got their Sactionals set up of 8 Bases and 9 Sides home, but they definitely demonstrated yet another fun aspect of Sactionals....boxes double as oversized Jenga blocks...
If you or someone you love has (intentionally or unintentionally) become a Sactionals die-hard, please share with us your photographs and story. Email them to me personally at [email protected].
Thank you!

JUNE 10 UPDATE: This just in... the Jenga stack above resulted in the below setup by the lucky family in Vegas...
Recently, TWO of our most important Sac'rs became something much more important than employees....they became customers.
[BEFORE - LEFT]Jeremy Corash runs our top store in the company. He was recently married and bought a bunch of Sactionals to add on to his rare two-tone set up (more people should try this). I couldn't just allow his celebratory furniture to show up FedEx so I made a personal visit to their home in Columbia, Maryland, to unpack it and set it up for him. Just watch it come together... [AFTER - RIGHT]

Most of the time our furniture gets used for TV rooms. I have to say, it is nice to see it applied to something new. Nancy's home office turned out awesome. So clean, so simple. The Taupe and Seawater Rhinoplush covers both tied in perfectly with her existing rug. I love that the U-drinks and U-tables (shown in photo left) that were designed for home theater use, come in so handy even in the home office situation.
After getting it all set up, it turns out that Nancy has decided that she wants an arm on the right end of her sectional, instead of the chaise, as it sits now. So, as any Sactionals customer can do, she just needs to order up 2 more Sides and turn that chaised-out Base the other direction, placing one of the extra Sactionals Sides behind it as the "back" and the other to the right of it on the end, as the "arm," and Nancy will have a closed of sectional instead of a left chaise sectional.
THAT'S the power of Sactionals....real furniture for real life.

[IF YOUR PAD NEEDS TO BE SAC'D EMAIL ME YOUR SOB STORY VIDEO AT [email protected].]
Every few months I like to post a new crop of customer emails, videos, etc. I always feel a little funny about it because of their being filled with blatant praise and enthusiasm for me and/or our products, but hey--I can't make this stuff up....
Connor is a 13-year-old from Summit, New Jersey who clearly has one of the coolest moms on the planet. She hooked him up with a 12 Base 10 Side "Moon Pit" Sactionals Configuration in (what might be our sickest, and surely most expensive Cover) MINK PHUR. They purchased it last month from one of our most talented crew of Sac'rs, Jesann and Josh at LoveSac Bridgewater Commons, NJ.
It seems that Connor is more than just a discerning furniture and design maven. Connor is a budding entrepreneur, with plans to get into fashion design and someday run his own business. I have no doubt he will succeed. I mean, if I can do it, anyone can (trust me--at 13 I was busy just trying to work the ladies with my pegged Girbauds and mullet in Jr. High School. With any kind of vision for the future, Connor is halfway home. Check out his new game room on this quick YouTube clip...
NEXT UP WE HAVE A COUPLE OF CUSTOMER EMAILS IN FROM THE SAN FRANCISCO AREA. APPROPRIATE, AS WE'RE ABOUT TO OPEN UP (AGAIN) THERE, VALLEY FAIR MALL, APRIL 1, 2010.
Heya,
the name's Jordan. I'm originally from a small town in California called Milpitas, you should know, there once was a Lovesac store in the mall there. I was just a kid when Lovesac first came to my mall. I spent hours upon hours in the store, day after day, just relaxing in the different sacs. The employee's would always greet me with a charming welcome back message almost everyday. I loved it, they made me feel so at home! Sadly, the day came when Lovesac closed its doors in my mall and I was heart broken. My world was gone. Imagine being a kid and having something around you that you knew made you happy, and then having it taken away and you dont know why. That thing was the demo Lovesacs on display for me. They were there day after day, and then POOF, gone. It's been seven years now and I have been on a search to find some piece of furniture in the world that could even compare to the joy I felt when I sat in a true Lovesac and you'll be glad to know that no such piece of furniture out there exists. Currently, I'm attending Humboldt State University in Eureka, in Northern California (the only region of California that currently does not have it's own Lovesac store.) Though I have made the effort to drive to both the stores in Southern California (minus the newest one, but I plan to drive to see that one in the coming weeks.) Truth be told, I love Lovesac. I know Lovesac. Hell, I'd jump through a ring of fire and more just to work for Lovesac. I just recently bought The BigOne package and although only one part of the set has showed up, it still has me in dire anticipation every single day. Soon, I'll be the proud owner of an authentic Lovesac and it only took seven years hah. I just thought I'd share with you how much Lovesac means to me. Thanks for being awesome and creating such a hardcore laid back company.
Loyal Sac'r,
- Jordan
THIS ONE FROM JANET, IN THE BAY AREA LAST DECEMBER:
Hi there, I sold loveSacs in Bay Area about 5 yrs ago. As soon as youngest child left for BYU. I left and came back home to UK.? my son took his Sac and puppy fur cover with him ,( naturally! ) It's been dragged all over Provo, into atleast 3 different " student houses" ! Can you only imagine how it looks !!! ? Well, Nathan ( my son ) is getting married , Jan, 2nd. So, he took the cover to get it cleaned ! the women asked, "Do you have animails?" "No," my son answears, quisically? "Oh just that
it had quite a smell to it ?"oh yea, thats off my roomates" Somethings I wish he didn't share with me! YUK! He said, "It cleaned up beautifuly" . Thank Heavens! His poor little wife never needs to know the nasty facts about the Sac.Thought I'd share! LOL!
IF YOU'D LIKE TO EMAIL ME YOUR OWN CUSTOMER FEEDBACK, JUST SEND IT TO: [email protected]. I check it myself. I'd LOVE to hear from you.
This will be my 7th year touring all of the LoveSac stores on what we at LoveSac call: Operation Front Line, 2009. After running the first LoveSac store day in and day out for months before we began to open more and build the company, I decided that I never wanted to get shut up in the office and lose touch with the customers who have made this company great. Not to mention our AMAZING Sac'rs who are out on the front lines making the sales, paying the bills, and who are ultimately responsible for LoveSac's success. So each year, just before the Holidays, I get out on the road and (mostly) drive to all of the LoveSac stores in the country. From LA to Boston, with each stop I am reminded of just how special our products are in our customer's lives and how great our band of young, capable, hard-working Sac'rs are at running this biz. [ABOVE LEFT: Natick MA LoveSac crew. RIGHT: Kyle & John, Sac users for years who now own Sactionals with multiple Covers]. BTW, COME FIND ME ON OP FRONT LINE AND SAY "SHAWNY D. SHOW ME THE MONEY,".....I'LL HOOK YOU UP.
This year, with so much going on, I will only make it to 2/3 of our stores before Christmas, but plan to catch the rest in the spring. [ABOVE LEFT: Bridgewater NJ crew]
At each stop I make sure that I'm not just dropping in to say "Hi" and point out shortcomings. I get to know every Sac'r by name, see who really tears it up and where our next Market Managers might be in the system! I work the store floor for hours, try to get my fair share of helping customers. I actually do the sales training while working the floor, with real customers; no role-playing here. They watch, I work. I usually make a sale or two and spend every other moment working with the store managers on merchandising training and setting their store right. [RIGHT: Columbia MD Sac'rs at the end of the 12 hour training. LEFT: Tyson's Corner D.C. crew - top selling LS staff!]
Each stop presents something new. I've wired lights, painted, re-located fixtures, hung posters, done light construction work...whatever needs doing. A typical "Front Line" day begins at 10am, sometimes noon, and runs until midnight, with all of the sit-down, hardcore training done after the store closes. We end the night by making ridiculous videos which live in infamy on the back walls of every LoveSac store and on the web forever, in the form of the LoveSac Store videos which you'll see playing in every one of our stores. Most customer's favorite part of these videos are the sections made by the Sac'rs on the Front Line visits....some better planned than others. I usually then drive on to my next location to the wee hours in the morning, wake up and do it again.
At each stop I take a new sidekick with me - usually a Manager or Assistant Manager from some other LoveSac market, with the purpose of getting to know them and further develop their skills at the Sac. They also work the floor when I'm back de-briefing the staff on the customer I just helped. I think it is always good for them to see other stores, other Managers, other ways of doing things. [RIGHT & LEFT BELOW: the new look of LoveSac, 2009 Columbia MD] NOBODY is too good at LoveSac to get their hands dirty, paint, clean, scrape, unload, setup, and go unil Midnight--or sometimes work for days straight, if necessary.
That is just our culture: this laid back, easy-going, fun company whose "laid back" people actually work harder, go longer, and are more capable than any other store in the mall....period. I love these guys. It is these people to whome we owe our deepest gratitude and respect. I dedicate this and every Front Line Tour I'll ever make to those who are really running this company, the Sac'rs on the Front Lines.
-- Shawny D.
BTW, COME FIND ME ON OP FRONT LINE AND SAY "SHAWNY D. SHOW ME THE MONEY,".....I'LL HOOK YOU UP WITH A LOVESAC GIFT CARD. Noon to Midnight... Nov 20th: Westroads, Omaha NE. Nov 22: Dallas Galleria, TX. Nov 23: Stonebriar, TX. Nov 29: Gateway Mall, SLC, UT. Nov 30: Northridge Mall, CA. Dec 1: Glendale Galleria, CA. Dec 2: Tyler Galleria, CA. Dec 6: Arizona Mills, Tempe AZ. Dec 7: Sunset Galleria, Henderson, NV. Dec 8: Layton Hills Mall, UT. Dec 10: Lenox, Atlanta GA. Dec 11: Mall of GA, Atlanta GA.
LoveSac lovers...YOU'VE GOTTA SEE THE VIDS BELOW (no, it is not snowing in this pic)....All of our Market Managers LoveSac Stores all over the US came to Stamford for an intensive 3 day training. In true LoveSac fashion: we work hard, we play hard. I'd write more but I couldn't do it justice. To get an idea of the (organized) chaos that ensued, just click on the videos below. First, 3 days in 9 minutes. Next, Sac Diving gets nasty. last, a flickr slideshow of some of my favorite pics of the week. If a picture is worth a 1000 words, a LoveSac video says it all...

Please COMMENT on what you think of our lunacy....good, bad, or ugly!
I’m always showing you what we can do with Sactionals and
(what I think is) our wicked-cool LoveSac furniture. Here are some Sac’rs personal pads as (is always the case):
customers do it better….
This is one of our Colorado Sac’rs: Shane Moss.Shane clearly has good taste.Shane chose to go with our (now
extinct) Puppy Phur, which was discontinued in late ’07 after P.E.T.A. found
out just how many puppies went into making a seven cushion sectional like this
one.(Actually, this washable
LoveSac Cover is 100% faux and 99% puppy friendly….its just a joke….its not
even really my joke….I stole it from our FlatIron, Colorado store’s blog).
I really like the way that Shane chose to do a DOUBLE Chaise
Sectional.This is a position not
even shown in our video of 69 Sactional Positions, which, by the way, was NOT
an intentional attempt at college humor. We literally just kept shooting positions in the white room until we had
gone all day. When we counted them
up, guess how many we had!?Yeah – we had to just let it ride.BUT, the point is, even at that many, the seating possibilities stemming
from LoveSac Sactionals go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on
and on and on and on and on and on on and on and on and on and on and on and on
and on and on and on and on and on on and on and on and on and on and on and on
and on and on and on and on and on on and on and on and on and on and on and on
and on and on and on and on and on, etc.
This second Sac pad is none other than Mr. Jackie Chan’s
place in Beijing China.You can
only barely tell (from the left side of the photo), but Jackie also owns a
seven cushion sectional built out of our extremely modular Sactionals, all with
Espresso PlushSuede Covers (our most popular fabric).Jackie picked up a GRIP of LoveSac gear while filming his
upcoming Hollywood release “The Spy Next Door,” in Albuquerque, New
Mexico. This film is sure to be a
hit, largely thanks to his on-set naps on the Sac in the on-set LoveSac store
shown in the film - - spoiler alert!
Needless to say, after experiencing the power of the Sac
himself on-set, Jackie raided our Cottonwood Mall location and flew home with
stacks of Sacs. Now, as you can
see, his whole entourage crashes on them after a long day of trying to keep up
with THE most energetic person I have ever met in my life.
Stores in China, you ask!?Yes, we’ve talked with him about it.Someday, it will come.
Finally, we have Hank, from Salt Lake City, Utah.I just happened to be at our Gateway location
the other day and as I was handling some biz at the counter, Hank walked right
up, and with confidence, bought himself a Sac for his upcoming college days….without
even flinching. These are my kind of customers! Hank: college will never be the same...
